I just got home from an amazing run in the gorgeoufs sunshine outside on a chillaxious Friday and I was once again reminded of how beautiful and easy our lives are.

We spend so much time complaining and bickering about basically non-existent problems and sometimes we forget how awesome it is to be here. Sure, tragedies do exist (check out the drunk driving thread for some sad examples), but generally life is easy. If those young adults who were killed by drunk drivers were able to speak from the grave, the first thing they'd say is that life is short, so enjoy it. They really are proof of how short it can be.

Some personal examples of my life being beautifubl:

-Just spend a week in Canmore helping paint my friend's million dollar home, while mountain biking, drinking, and getting free room and board. And I even got paid for it!

-Lost my wallet three times so far. Everytime it has been returned. One time I lost it in Edmonton with $70 cash inside, and when it was returned the cash was still in it! (minor miracle, especially in Edmonton!)

-Lost my passport in NZ while on a crazy adventurse. Got my new passport in the mail the day before my flight back to Canada!

-The economy is finally starting to turn around. So far this week I've saved about $200 in travel expenses thanks to the rising Canadian dollar!

-Going to Spain in September for $116 thanks to cmyden and his amazinfg travel deal!

-And we can all agree that the Flames getting Bouwmeester for nothing is something we as a group can celebrate! aym58c

Consider a similar red dot program for the Provincial gov or feds regarding all utlity companies, telephone and Visa etc must provide email billing options to all clients with a minimum $1.00 saving per month if the bills are sent by email instead, the companies save the mailng costs . The worse offenders are visa & .mastercard with multiple billing papers inside the envelops. They do not give you the option of email billing .
If the government stepped in, the industry could make this happen, imagine the scale of millions of billing not being mailed. The efficiency is incredible. Already some companies already offer this such as telus, primus and shaw cable. This has broad implications for all companies sending out monthly billings including the banks. So much of this information dose not need to be mailed. It uses tree's and is incredibly inefficient. I wonder what the carbon saving are on this scale

I had a "no flyers" sticker on my mailbox. (It was actually in French since I live in Quebec.) After a month of being ignored by my letter carrier I called Canada Post (on March 26) and asked them why was my noticed being ignored. I was told that "no flyers" or "no junk mail" are not appropriate. I was to use the term "no admail" ("aucun médiaposte") and I had to place a clearly visible red dot on my mailbox. Well today was my first day with everything by the book, and I don't know if it was a coincidence, but I found junk mail on my driveway rather than in my mailbox. I will give my letter carrier the benefit of the doubt before I place another call to Canada Post.

Postie re our new blog -- sorry you aren't as comfortable with the new format and hope you'll get used to it. We were finding that the old system didn't allow us to create discussion threads -- which is the whole point of Red Dot.
So send us your threads -- and we will try to get them started!
PS. You should easily be able to get back to the old website where nothing has changed.

I'm amazed if in fact you convinced as many to print out stickers and letters as claimed. A successful campaign could generate many tons of scrap paper products.
An awareness to separate products correctly for recycling is an importance, notable for immediate recommendation.
Does anyone know how to get www.citifinancial.ca to stop sending mail to my house addressed for people that haven't lived here for more than two and more than seven years.

So, as a Realtor who is concerned about the volumes of unnecessary paper use and keeping my business rolling; is there a good compromise. How do I keep my name and services "top of mind" if I don't advertise now and again using paper products? Any comments would be greatly appreciated....

I love this campaign - THANK YOU!!!

I'm just wondering about the other junk mail that gets delivered and if there are any options for getting them to stop throwing their stuff on my front lawn? I live in Vancouver and the courier is delivered weekly despite my calling numerous times to tell them I don't want it.

Any suggestions??

The new website sucks, IMHO. Nowhere could I find the red dot campaign form to send to Canada Post and seeing what the latest postings are is no longer an easy task. One must look through several files to see if anyone has posted, whereas the old site had all the latest posts scrolled on the right side of the page.
